Chicken little

And why do the middle aged scream in panic that the sky is falling at the sight of new generations? Weren't they young at one point? Didn't they delight in decadence and feel the exubarence of self pleasure and apathetic whims? Or is it perhaps that society actually is crumbling while we watch, standards of behavior decreasing in correlation to the size of our populace... like a frog in warm water, we remain oblivious to lethal tempuratures. until the time comes for us to protest, as if last minute efforts made up for decades of apathy.

And while I cannot directly answer these questions, as I have no referance to middle age (yet) and I passed up my oppurtunity of youthful foolishness... I can however remark on the nature of panic that is caused by bringing attention to panic. Perhaps I don't need to. Perhaps my reader understands the herd mentality applied to fear.

And this is a human nature applied to the developmental process. Just as exploring your individuality during your teenage years will cause you to appear rebellious. And yet the question remains unanswered, if the middle aged did not take a "last minute" stand for values... as this is surely the balance between the two groups... if either side was allowed dominance, would society actually crumble?

Can real progress be made by stifling the foolish actions of the young or will the rebellion only build in their hearts becoming discontent and hatred for order and civility. This is a natural balance that is always found in society, but perhaps the cause of fear is actually fear itself. Remaining passive could be the correct struggle of choice. It would be a deeper struggle, a struggle of self control rather than the control of others. And the results would surely be more promising, as the fruits of your labor will actually continue to matter to someone.

I know this for sure, I choose to think about things like this so that I do not have to waste my life struggling against unmatchable opposition.
